Melissa McCarthy becomes a designer too. This must be good! This beautiful plus size actrice won’t let us down.
Melissa, which we know especially from The Gilmore Girls and Mike & Molly will collaborate with the American company Sunrise Brands. Next to this upcoming brand they also have in their portfolio the brands American Rag, Diane Gilman, People’s Liberation, Seven7 Jeans and Superdry. The collections will be launched in the US, Canada and UK. Unfortunately not elsewhere in Europe but they are working on e-commerce and pop-up stores. Keep our fingers crossed!
The collection doesn’t have a name yet but will be connected to Melissa McCarthy. The collection will first launch its casual sportswear around fall 2015. In a later stage they will add an upscale business collection to it. Besides garments the brand will also be selling nice accessories as well as beauty products from 2016 or 2017 onward. Surprisingly the collection will have a size range in regular sizes as well as plus sizes. Everybody can look great! McCarthy reveals that the collections will be more daring than most brands for plus size do.
“I always said, ‘Why can’t I find great stuff?’ And Sunrise was up for the challenge,” she said. It’s something she has been dreaming of since she was a child. She knows she’s not the first celebrity who links herself to a fashion brand though she’s convinced this will work out. The girl who grew up on a farm went to New York to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. There she met shoe designer Brian Atwood and he changed her career “He made me do stand-up, not finish college at FIT,” she said.source
